Unit ratio (build template)

Postby rockoe10 » 18 Jan 2014, 12:53

Hello wonderful faf community, I have a question about the ratio of units I should build from my land factory, usually during t1/t2. I consider myself a moderate skill leveled player and have played sense the gpg release (e3 presentation was so exciting!). I had a pretty good handle on the ratio of tanks/arty/scout/etc. And when I came to faf during its early patches I was rated pretty high (~1700) but after taking a small break from faf and comming back during patch 20, I've begun to lose my edge and the know how. So, to my question.

Generally ( conditions in game change alot of things) what is a good ratio of units for t1/t2 (tanks, arty, etc)?
And, what should I look for particularly when switching up the ratio?

I've got a good handle on cybran (been using them alot recently) but have decided to move back to my old gpg favorite, the UEF. I however seem to have no idea how the units handle or behave in the new patches. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them. Thank you

Well as Cybran i usually go full mantis with like 1 Scaut each 15 Mantis or so. depending on my Opponent i mix a few Medusas like 80% Mantis 20% Medusa.

In the T2 stage well it depends if you prefere Hoplites or rinos jsut spam as many as you can and mix a mobile stealth each 5-6 units.
ever have 1 mobile flak next your acu and more just if you dotn have any air.

As Cybran just dont forget the mobile stealths

As far as Cybran, the bigger the battles fought the higher percentage of Medusa in your army. At the beginning you need a lot of mantis to get map control and battle enemy tanks from all direcitons. Once frontlines establish and you have big-army-faceoffs, you need a lot of Medusa for the range advantage. The EMP is great for trapping units in place and spamming even more medusa shots. You can easily go 80% medusa and 20% mantis in such a big blob of units. Its hard to ran it over, because it requires a large army as well, and those will be highly susceptible to huge amounts of medusa spammed barrages.

Ok, cool. Thanks for the info. I didn't think the Medusa spam was possible, but i can see with blobs such as those it can be.

And ill keep the mantis spam at a higher ratio. Currently i've been running something more around 25% medusa and 75% mantis from the start of the game (After scouts and engies).

Now, what about UEF? Its been a while sense i've used them and i'm having more problems with them currently.

I can't give you exact ratios as I'm only discovering this tactic myself. However, I've found it very effective, especially since massive medusa spam can be very effective against the ACU. Surprisingly, the awful accuracy plays to your advantage, as even a dancing Com will get hit, if you have enough arty you can cause some serious damage.

I saw ZLO spam pure medusa as support for a com rush. The com takes on any pesky tanks that try to run to the medusas, which hang in the back and spam shots after shots dealing huge DPS at this stage of the game.

No idea about UEF, but I imagine with the superslow ROF on Lobo you can't really do the same. I'd venture somewhere between 1-2 arty for each 5 tanks.

I play pretty exclusive UEF and I have about a 15% arty ratio
Strikers are pretty good right now. When playing aeon your strikers will dominate auroras if you can run through them
At t2 pillars are the way to go. (mongoose is a little up right now)

I am also an exclusive UEF player. My T1 arty ratio is 28%. It typically consists of 1:6:2 ratio of scouts, tanks and artillery. As such I tend to engage in stand off attacks and volley strikes (a task for which the UEF arty is perfectly suited). This ratio is map and faction dependant. For an open flat running battle with Cybrans, or Seraphim, I might operate a 3:5 Mech-marine and Striker combo. Against any faction in close quarters combat with interfering terrain (such as Crag Dunes) I use a tank to arty ratio of 2:1.
