Looking for an old mod

Postby Spyder Vitrea » 15 Jan 2014, 05:11

SupCom was one of the first real games I ever played, and I'm curious if a mod I used to use for messing around in Sandbox is still around. It was called Void's Build Mod or something along those lines, and reduced the build times for all units to less than a second, as well as decreasing their costs to near 0. It was fun for doing things like crashing my graphics drivers by firing 200 nukes at the same spot.

Is there such a mod available for FA, or is there an option or console command I can use for this effect without having to PopupUnitCreateMenu for every unit?

Also, this is my first post, so if it's in the wrong place I apologize.

Sincerely,
S.V.

start a skirmish (or regular) game with cheats enabled. type "ai_instabuild" into the console. Congrats, everything builds instantly for free.

Much appreciated. Do you know if there's an easy way to increase the max unit cap, like editing an .ini file? I'm trying to run an overnight simulation of the AI, and how it grows and expands, just out of curiosity. I have a Haswell i7 (I know the hyperthreading isn't going to help, but it's mainly for video editing work) and was hoping to push the unit cap up to 50,000+ and see what a Turtle AI does for 5-6 hours.

Pretty Sure the game caps out at a certain number of units and crashes. At least this was the case in vanilla - I presume the engine has its limitations, far below 50 - 60k .

Your idea is cool though

Well, I have a small amount of very rusty Lua and no modding experience in this engine. Would it be possible to make a quick+dirty mod which would increase the cap, or am I SOL for the moment? I'm interested in pushing this game to it's absolute limit, and this seems like a good place to start.

Also, in reference to the Ai_freebuild and AI_instantbuild commands, is there any way to make those affect build speed for things like Nuke launchers and defenses? I understand that command probably doesn't touch those to avoid artillery fire-rate issues, but it'd make it a little bit easier to work on the sort of large-scale tactical missile and nuke tests I'm digging at.

Also, in case anybody's curious, in a sandbox game with AI_freebuild and Ai_instantbuild enabled, it only takes a Turtle AI 7 1/2 minutes to hit unit cap on Seton's Clutch.

Im at work now, but when I get home I can post u a mod I made. Or you can download thse 4x unit cap yourself and edit the "capcost" to a 0 and u can have infinit units.

EDIT:

here is my mod i use for testing games and making Templates. It gives the ACU super everything and by upgrading it to tech 2 suite, it becomes t3 and can build everything.

As for the cap cost, just download the 4x unitcap mod from the vault and change the capcost to 0. this will make all units worth nothing towards the total unit cap.
