T4 Sera Bomber Scout

Postby Brutus » 04 Jan 2014, 05:49

Can somebody please explain why do Sera T4 bombers hardly ever release bomb on the first run? Somebody mentioned they need a few km of flight to release it. I just had Isis game with certain 3km of flight path before its supposed release of the bomb, and the bomb itself was loaded. It did not release it. It happens too often. Why? Is there a catch with it? Pretty expensive scouting unit and it often ends up being just that.

Thanks

It's because of elevation differences, like hills. There are hills on Isis so there will always be a chance that the bomber will wait for 2nd pass before dropping. Sometimes it will drop on first pass, sometimes not. To ensure higher first drop rate, try to have no hills in the filght trajectory.

I see and understand how that felt precisely...

My target was the def base on Isis which was on the first passage, so between those starting hills. It did however had to move over the middle hill, after which it had well some 2km of flight above flat ground. But I guess middle hill could've confused the AI running it...

Replay attached. Minute 40... built by me, top right corner.

Maybe using the "ground attack" option helps

Yeah I started the attack actually with ground attack, but then changed it to attack shields. But when I started moving it, so it wasn't at the last moment. I recall in other matches that ground attack made no difference, it just flew over the target and I had a feeling pilot (AI...) was waving to enemy units. Pacifistic hippy scum

Always groundfire with it and when you select a target for groundfire move it araund instead of selecting new target. If you are confident in your micro you can slow it down before target and when it realeases (or not :P) imidietly order it to fly back, that way it wont fly over entire enemy base in order to make a second pass.

Is it fixed, that a bomber can stop after dropping the first bomb and immediatly drop another bomb? that always feels like cheating.
