Build Orders

Postby nine2 » 03 Jan 2014, 09:17

I've seen some great info on build orders for landspam, hydro, early bomber.

What are some build orders for early gun, early t2 acu, early t2 land, early t2 air?

Obviously it's map dependant but I bet people have rules they go by, eg: wait for +200 power before going for the gun

Thanks!

Don't use build orders. They will stall your learning. Learning is more important than winning.

There really isn't that much to learn from a buildorder imo. Most of it is just optimization, you'll learn better by improvising.

I always look at the cost (how much - it adds to your power), and check if I've mass for it (or reclaim!!).

For example, in teamgames with reclaim I upgrade a mex after my hydro. Then I start upgrading another mex to T2 each time my power hit's +50.

The same counts for gun, for example it cost -300 power, I'll start it once I've around +200/+250 (the reason I don't wait for +300 is because it's 1. a shitload of power, 2. you've your storage + engies still building power (use your storage!!)).
I'm watching you!

It's always the same, just build more energy to do it. The problem is that you have less tanks at this time and you need a good feeling when you should do it.
A build order is normaly what is the acu doing at the start and what should the first 5 engies do. All other stuff is tactic/strategy.

I think early BO like Voodoo said are extremely important and map-dependent. Distance&amount of reclaim will allow you to do things faster/slower, and force your hand on optimal options.

I don't see how learning the basic BOs would stall your learning. I don't see how you would learn anything about most optimal use of eco by just trial&error for 1 thousand games.
