FAF logo competition

Hey ppl! Since so many ppl posted their ideas for a FAF logo, let's do a Logo competition!

Pilot has a lot on his hands and seems to have no time to take care of this, so as soon as he gives us a green light we could do it this way:


Designers post their drafts in a certain format in THIS thread.

I suggest sth like this:


DIMENSIONS: 2000x1500 pixels


Once we have enough drafts (maybe we set a deadline for entries?) we create another thread that has all the drafts listed in the first post and a poll so that ppl can vote their fav designs.

There is no current one - all we have is an icon. There is no logo in the client or on the website. I think FAF would profit a lot if it had a proper presentation that is recognizable! Of course the current icon is a good design, maybe the designer wants to add some graphics that could be used on the website/forums/client header and enter it to the competition!?

the current icon = the current logo.

I dont't think that there is a need to make things more complicated than they are. The current logo is slick, simple and recognisable. There was the idea to write the A with a dot in the middle so that you could take a green, blue, red or yellow dot in order to represent a certain fraction (+ the dot represents a t4 unit).

I wouldn't mind to see new ideas though. However, less is often more. That's the reason why I like the current log quite a lot.

That's not the logo but the banner.

It shows on the client because the client show the website.

Who said that?

I'm just pointing out that what you call "The icon" is the logo, and what you call "the logo" is a banner.

I don't really want to change the logo again.

hi,

what I was getting at is that there is no faf logo shown in very important spots.

IMHO FAF has a very unappealing look, it has no "Corporate Identity" (I hate that word but you know what I mean?).
There is much potential to give an awesome project an awesome look and there are several people willing to contribute, thats why I started this thread!


I understand that you dont want to change the logo, I was just frustrated after investing many hours into my drafts and receiving no feedback from you

I like the CI idea. This should happen. I wouldn't call the FAF look and feel unappealing but it could do with a dose of professional design. It's not just cosmetic either - we are talking about the perception of potential new players ... they come and see some mod site ... I want them to come and see a pro game.

I'm not a massive fan of the starcraft site but you feel like you have landed at a page that is 'the real deal' and not some fan site or something.
