Because it's a... BUG.

BUGS should be fixed in ANY AND ALL cases where doing so will not break game functionality. Engies are perfectly capable of autoreclaim from patrol or attack move without this happening.

As to the first, that's the tricky part: No bloody clue :D

Attack-Move command from a Factory, then build Engies. They will reach the waypoint and start reclaiming with insane ranges.

most likely it's just an extreme case of a pathfinding problem, and btw fixing all that bugs would destroy all these nice screenshots

The reclaim range bug, even if related to the screenshot, is not the same issue at all.

In that case, it's a builder building something while moving, but doesn't stop when going out of range.

As it's an engine bug, to solve that, you will have to check all builders each tick and check the range compared to what they build, that will become insanely slow very fast.
