When is T2 arty actually worth it?

Title question

Additionally, a shell fired every 20 seconds is quite slow, so when it does fire it should hopefully be dealing a whole bunch of damage. I have no idea how accurate they're meant to be too.. (the database talks about firing randomness and firing tolerance but I have no idea what they or their values mean)

P.S. Any good as a counter to navy bombardments?

T2 artillery is pretty good for defending your base against navy. It has the same range as the seraphim and cybran battleships. All missile ships outrange it, as well as UEF battleships and the Aeon Tempest. Cybran have no naval unit with the range to bombard a base with T2 artillery without suffering counter fire.

T2 artillery is my favorite counter for Fatboys as it has 28% longer range and Fatboys present large enough targets that they hit at a high rate. It is excellent against tightly packed groups of non-experimentals as well.

T2 Arty battery at the rock on Twin Rivers can deny nearly any T3 unit movement

Isn't t2 artillery really easy to dodge though? T3 land and ships can just move out the way as one can easily see the yellow projectile arcing toward your units.

Against navy you need decent amout of arty and you will need to shield it or destros will just come and use direct fire on them and kill pretty easy

also since all missileships outrange t2 arty i think it is not woth to use t2 art agains sera/uef/aeon navy, more then that, cybran navy have no shields, so you may use t2 arty agains cybran navy

also seen t2 arty work well on wonder when every one already made t2 pds and started ecowhoring

also on any map you may try to counter t3 arty with t2 stationary arty if you have no other choise

Edit: basicly if you construct t2 arty and it will shoot somewhere at enemy long enought it will be a cost effective unit, and as closer it is to enemy base more cost effective it becomes, like on winter duel... remember Juicy vs Lu_Xun :D

T2 artillery won't work in small numbers due to their slow firing rate and their inaccuracy, much like a single T2 PD won't work against an army. In larger numbers though, they can stop any land unit, but this is a big investment, so that's why it doesn't get built often.

Lets see some numbers for DPS per 100 mass.

T3 mobile arty

Aeon: 8.9
Cybran: 7.6
UEF: 9.4
Seraphim: 8.9

T2 static arty

Aeon: 6.5
Cybran: 5.2
UEF: 5.3
Seraphim: 6.0

By the way, as UEF I would recommend the T3 mobile missile launcher. It has 60 dps per 100 mass!! And it can move while shooting. The best is probably to mix some missile launchers with arty. TMD can usually not stop the missiles before they hit the shields, and when the shields go down the arty does the damage. And as aeon of course shield disruptors are epic.

The only cybran naval unit, that can bombard bases with T2 arty and not being hit, is a "Plan B". Sure thing it is way too expensive, but if your enemy built a lot of t2 arty, that means you forced him out the water. So if you want to put pressure and force to spend even more mass, you can build one stratigic sub. Since it has stealth and impressive cybran tactical missles, you can force your enemy to invest mass into multiple TMDs, SMDs, may be shields and, if he wants to destroy sub, into omni.

Yeah, in theory. But in practice all it takes to take out a strat sub is a spy plane and 5 torpedo bombers. So don't try this when playing to win. Furthermore, T2 arty can probably ground fire your sub to death.

ya strat subs are not made for bombardment
better build it hide it soemwhere and toggle fire mod so it wont atack and reveal its position

as cybran you cna build scatis / mega / ML underwater and kill t2 arty with it and than move close with t3 ships

or you can invest into t3 air and get a SR wiht some strats as support

or you ask some sera teammate and spam sera cruiser / battleships
