Considering this game

Postby progunxzx » 28 Aug 2013, 00:46

Ok, it's on sale on steam for like $3.74... which is certainly in my budget. I know the game has been out for awhile and was kind of wondering what I'd be getting myself into. Am I just going to get utterly destroyed forever or is there a point where I can catch up in skills eventually and have a shot at winning matches?

A breif history of my RTS experience: Warcraft 1 and 2, all the C and Cs pretty much up to and including Generals Zero Hour, couple of the total wars, cossacks (cant remember which one), and probably a few other games I can't remember to mention.

Thanks for any advice :D

Hi there,

The game is quite active I would say and the game requires less micro than a star-craft for example so it is very possible to improve fast by watching top players in the replay vault.

The link below has videos on how to play.

Next link shows a list of casters to get an idea about the game.

If you really like rts games, this is a must!
The new system of Forged Alliance Forever is much more friendly to new players, than the original was.(probably a greater number of players too).

You will be thrilled with the potential of the number of strategies you can apply. You can be creative
on land sea and air.It also introduces some wonderful concepts(such as innovative interface and scale), other rts games have yet to match.
Unfortunately supreme commander forged alliance still reigns supreme in its genre, as no other rts is even close to its capabilities(maybe more shiny and with frivolous ornaments but no real substance).
It was 2008 and it is 2013 and still...
Maybe the forever part will come true after all.

I would recommend playing through the original Supreme Commander single player campaign initially, the balance is very different but it will give you a feel for the game and how units interact at a basic level. Also it's lots of fun.

The Forged Alliance campaign is ok, but it throws you in at the deep end and every mission amounts to just stockpiling experimentals then throwing them at the enemy.

mate, this will be the best $4 you will ever spend. Its difficult to learn and even more difficult to master but the rewards are worth the effort. There is a good sized active community playing both team games and 1v1 ranked so there is always a game to suit you. The game is under constant development and balancing. I cant recommend this game enuf. Ive only been playing it since vanilla beta ( 6-7 years ) and Im still not tired of it.
