am i missing something? It has 15 build power for 500 mass...
T1 engie has 5 for 150 and can move and takes less space...
A hive also appears only at t2..
And engi can also actually start building structures...
Maybe hives open and close sequences are somewhat better, even than they are still total crap for cost.
At what situation are they ever the best assist unit to build?
Sure thye can be upgraded but they are still not more cost effective in terms of build power and you cant start making them at any point since they lose in cost lot until they reach their final tier.
Their build time is also excruciating..they might be ok at super late game eco when u can just rush through their tech tiers but even than..why go through the effort? you already have a huge army of engineers / factories.
and the metal cost is the cheapest comapred to t1 engies.hives cost an abscene amount of energy and build time compared to the equivalent resources of t1 engies...

In general what is the reason for making build power more expensive with the tech tiers...Is it a states goal to create a build pwoer bottleneck and force t1 engi spam?

With engie mod T2 and t3 engies are still less efficient and hives are still total shit.Either balance them or remove them?

There are more issues than just straight build power for mass. A few things that spring to mind for me:

1. if you want heaps of engis your going to need a few fac's spamming them. Two t1 facs cost about the same as a hive and you have 0 assistable build power until they have built t1 engis. Also it takes a long time to build lots of t1 engis.

2. HP, an upgraded hive has 2750hp a t1 engi has 150ish... and a hive is a single unit and harder for exp's etc to get vet off....

3. The most important advantage hives have is not needing to move to build something in their range (which is big). So for example if you can get enough hives up and say 2 teir3 fac's, your hives can switch between the facs instantly and as a unit is exiting one fac they can build the unit in another fac then repeat... this is a huge advantage because they never stop building this way. Where as t1 engi's just sit idol while a unit exists a building.... You can assist the ground between two fac with t1 engis and kind of do this but its just not the same and if something interupts your build queue then the engis wonder off looking for new things to assist...

I think they are near perfectly balanced and don't need any changes...

This has already been addressed in Engy Mod coming to the public in the next patch! Read up in the patch forum.
