That's more of a 'left alone for 5 years until somebody checked and it no longer happened on current wine' kind of bugfix :D

I've been having trouble recording FA under ubuntu 20.04 after the first frame OBS records the same frame in a loop. the cursor is there and moving around the audio is fine but the frame is frozen.

I made an issue on askubuntu: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1262996 ... ter-awhile

anybody got a fix?

figured it out, you have to use the record window option and then tick the "alpha-less texture format (Mesa workaround)" in that configuration's window.

Yeah I'm still alive. Running Fedora 32, Ryzen 2700, and a 5700xt.

I updated to Downlords client version 1.1.9. The new default vmoption sets memory to 712m, but I also added -Dprism.order=sw just to be safe. I cleared out all of my Oracle Java versions, and then got a fresh install of JDK 11.0.7. After launching and logging in, memory was very stable. I let it run in the background all day, and even played a couple games (downloading maps had previously made it spike out of control).

I'm using Proton 5.09, D9VK, and Esync. Game runs butter smooth.

On a side note, I see almost everyone who reports performance turn esync off. However, every serious technical discussion I've seen has always been pro-esync. I flipped it off/on and did not notice any significant performance difference in SupComm. I've never needed to turn it off before, but I was curious why people recommend turning esync off for SupComm.

PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 is used because otherwise the opening vid of the game is not displayed / does not play and poor user cannot get into the main menu of the game.
if you dont use esync the loading screen for the normal FAF games are slow as well, tho eventually it manages to disappear and launch the actual game.

i have just tried it so with Proton 5.09 it is still the case on my comp at least (AMD).

i recommend using Proton 5.09 too because DXVK is enabled by default. tho you have to install Vulkan tools on Ubuntu otherwise it falls back to opengl translation and that produces noticeably worse FPS.
https://linuxconfig.org/install-and-tes ... n-on-linux

the stability of the game is good. not long ago i played a 1+ hour long setons game without crashes but the replays still crash at 30+ min...

the efficiency of the translation / Wine / Proton / whatever is shit tho.
i have an AMD RX5700XT + Ryzen R5 1600X, and the fans barely spin up. the game is not using the GPU, it is CPU limited big time. i barely get 30 fps in a big setons game... meanwhile GTA V gives me 100FPS... lol
