My problem is, that i cant specify the game path in FAF.
it is /home/tobias/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/Supreme Commander Forged Alliance/bin/supremecommander.exe but when i try to browse it in the FAF window there is no option to unhide the .wine folder.
when i copy/paste, i cant confirm the path.

For me, the Path is:
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance

You dont need to insert the linux-path, because the WINE will rewrite the path for you.

for your setup try insert this:
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance

thx for confirming my point of view. i had the same problem as you with the game path for more than a year.
by chance, i found the correct game path. i wrote in this forum about it, but zep refused to see a problem.

maybe, we should file a bug report about it...

Since there is no official support for Linux I guess it will be rejected again.
May try my approach to insert the "windows like" correct path.
This is working (at least for me).

On Play On Linux: hit the "Restart Windows" Button inside the wineprefix settings.
On pure-wIne: type "wineboot" in Console.

If this does not work, I need your linux-Distribution to help linking your files with FAF ;)

ok i fixed the problem. the X3DAudio1_2.dll was missing. i loaded the file from dll-files and moved it to ~/.wine/steam/.../Supremecommander Forged Alliance/bin/
but when i host a game in the lobby i get a changed screen resolution and a displaced picture. i cannot change resolution or do something ingame because of the displacement (i would post a screenshot, but i cant because im new)
my sys is ubuntu 14
thx for helping me so far

By Default you can move ANY Window in ubuntu by holding ALT-Key and Drag the Windows with your mouse.

On wine try to enable/disable the "virtual Desktop" feature. This should fix ANY displacements.

If you have a Dual-Monitor setup you are forced to play in Window-Mode because wine cannot interpret Nvidias SplitScreen correctly.

If you still need help feel free to write me in #aeolus you can show me every picture then.

I changed the resolution settings in the game.prefs file, and set the file read-only because faf changes the settings back automatically. Im trying to configure wine that i can Alt-Tab to Lobby. iÍt seems that the (wine)window-manager doesnt recognize supreme commander as a stand-alone application in relation to the Lobby

wait Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

how'd you manage to do this on play on linux???

i've been trying for decades over there and nothing seems to work with the blasted thing so I just gave up.

(why does it fail at steam install, why does it choose a lower version of wine?)

i can't get any of this to work anymore because I'm trying to do it clean this time and make a wineprefix first.
but this seems to be impossible.

EDIT i got the wineprefix working.
