It works on native Ubuntu Linux 18.04 LTS Bungie following these steps:
/viewtopic. ... 07#p163007
I've uninstalled everything that I installed using pip3 before on my shitty laptop. I've uninstalled libssl1.0-dev too to be as close to the vanilla 18.04 Ubuntu as possible.
The client starts, I can do everything.
No graphical bugs other than resizing from full screen window to smaller (it was shitty on 16.04 too btw, probably a qt bug).
Getting this output after start, logging in and clicking randomly, downloading mods, etc:
- Code: Select all
testUser@COMP2:~/Games/fafclient$ python3 client-0.16.1/src/__main__.py

I don't know what the Gtk-Message: 14:11:08.086: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" error is, it didn't appear in the Xubuntu VM I used, must be Bungie related.. anyways it doesn't effect functionality, it seems. Ignored.
This does not mean that the client is fully usable though at this point. On ubuntu 16.04, I had to install additional library / program to be able to patch the game for example. When you play faf beta for example, the client tries to use external program to patch the game and error occurs when you don't have it. It doesn't occur when you try to launch vanilla faf tho, if I remember correctly... but it was a long time ago.
Anyways the client runs. That was my goal. I cannot test this further on my laptop anyways.
