I can confirm.
It works on native Ubuntu Linux 18.04 LTS Bungie following these steps:
/viewtopic. ... 07#p163007

I've uninstalled everything that I installed using pip3 before on my shitty laptop. I've uninstalled libssl1.0-dev too to be as close to the vanilla 18.04 Ubuntu as possible.

The client starts, I can do everything.
No graphical bugs other than resizing from full screen window to smaller (it was shitty on 16.04 too btw, probably a qt bug).
Getting this output after start, logging in and clicking randomly, downloading mods, etc:
Code: Select all
testUser@COMP2:~/Games/fafclient$ python3 client-0.16.1/src/__main__.py
Gtk-Message: 14:11:08.086: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"

I don't know what the Gtk-Message: 14:11:08.086: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module" error is, it didn't appear in the Xubuntu VM I used, must be Bungie related.. anyways it doesn't effect functionality, it seems. Ignored.

This does not mean that the client is fully usable though at this point. On ubuntu 16.04, I had to install additional library / program to be able to patch the game for example. When you play faf beta for example, the client tries to use external program to patch the game and error occurs when you don't have it. It doesn't occur when you try to launch vanilla faf tho, if I remember correctly... but it was a long time ago.

Anyways the client runs. That was my goal. I cannot test this further on my laptop anyways.

jinja2 is an additional dependency, python3-jinja2 should be the corresponding Ubuntu package.

i fix it by installing another wine separate to wine-development

running FA via command: wine "/home/yamad/FAForever/bin/ForgedAlliance.exe" /mean 1478.67 /deviation 83.6348 /country UA /init init_faf.lua /numgames 1068 /log "/home/yamad/FAForever/logs/game.log" /nobugreport /savereplay "gpgnet://localhost/8198426/kirovreporting.SCFAreplay" /gpgnet 127.0.0.1:35592

also devs should fix this(wine "/home/yamad/FAForever/bin/ForgedAlliance.exe") command XD

Is "wine-development" binary in your distro called something else than plain "wine", like "wine-development" or the like? That would be the reason. What I definitely should do is add a config window to set wine-related config options.

I've tried to run the base game from Steam on Ubuntu Budgie 18.04 LTS native and getting the same error message that tatsu gets:
CD3DDeviceResources::DevResInitResources: Unable to load effect file /effects/mesh.fx
/viewtopic. ... 80#p162780

Installing d3dx9 for wine doesn't help. Steam installs one anyways (it worked on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS)...
https://wiki.faforever.com/index.php?ti ... _FAF_Linux

disabling bloom render using this Game.perfs file doesn't help either:
https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31581#c10

@tatsu
, can you run these commands on your machine for comparison?
I see you have already opened a report on winehq btw:
https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=9728
Also, we should try other wine versions. Stupid playonlinux cannot download anything for me unfortunately. D:
I've used wine 1.xxx and 2.xxx versions before and it was ok.
