Mixed army/navy

Just throwing this out here : While it's generally frowned upon to mix several faction's units into one army or navy, is it acceptable to do so if you take the required technology from someone by capture?

Unless there is a explicit rule inside the lobby (then it's up to you to respect it or not, as no one can enforce it), of course you can.

Even if it's a teammate that gave you the engy. Seton is not FA, and only a part of the players that play seton don't want mixed navy for obscures reasons.
It's up to them to make it clear before the game starts, or write a mod that disallow it entirely.

Afaik it's kinda an unwritten rule to not mix things like e.g UEF shields with Cybran stealth in navies. However, usually this would apply to getting the tech from an ally; what I was wondering was if capturing was acceptable, considering the difficulty (compared to "can I have an engie")

And yes, this is pretty much for setons. In most cases people don't really seem to care; part of the game so it's fair.

(My reply to your comment below) Unwritten in the sense that no one has to say it.

If it's unwritten, it's not a rule. Feel free to mix navy (or land, or air) when you want.

Sharing unit is part of the game. If it wasn't a good thing, it wouldn't be possible anymore.

Once and for all: there is no rule that forbids naval mixing, only banned stuff are the things listed under banned exploits etc

I do not think there are any people who are against mixed navy and also against using mixed navy if you capture an enemy engineer. If the enemy was stupid enough to let you, then you can do whatever you want with it.

Alls fair in love and war. Shouldnt be frowned upon unless it was a stipulated rule from the lobby.

Guys: I think you're missing the point. Mixed navy/army is frowned upon and people don't do it and as such it isn't done. I'm asking those people if it's still frowned upon if the tech is captured, not given by ally.

And the answer is no. There might be some who would whine about it if you capture tech, but those either missed that you captured it (so just explain it) or are idiots and you should take advantage of the inbuilt fancy filter function :D

Why don't you ask these people directly ? I highly doubt they are the majority of FAF players.
