If they don't tell any implicit rule in the game lobby before the game start, they can only blame themselves if someone doesn't respect them.

There is no "Seton rules book" that everyone has read.

From what I have heard this started in 3599 where you could literally make an unkillable navy by mixing and on the reverse side lose the whole game if a team mate was a couple minutes late giving an engy. This rule seems to have fallen by the wayside in current balance unless you are playing in the really high ranked games.... I don't think it is really that big of a deal.

there is no big reason to not mix navy anymore. this rules comes from gpg where shields leaded to very long games with no action.
just mix navy if you want. but ppl will blame you that you have only one because of mixing...

that´s why i dont do it. i take my oponents arguments 8-)
Teamwork is a lot of people doing what i say

I am no fan of such rules as it is hard to draw the line and cause people tend to get offensive towards players that never heard of that secret rules.

If I play against a player I know and we both agree on not mixing navy that is another story.

I don't mix navy for the reason ICKEN stated, though and well, not having to ask for techs every game is a plus IMO.

When I however happen to steal tech from an enemy I utilize and mix as good as I can, since he deserves that for allowing me to steal his engineer :)

This is a Strategy game with the ability to mix units up. It is a Strategy, and a wise one, to do so; you should take every available method of winning as a serious consideration. If someone tells you off for mixing navy up, do it more, grind them into the dirt with it, then tell them they suck because they couldn't find a way to counter it, then move on to better players. Time this mindset of not using the strongest available strategy was stamped out, unless agreed on pre-game.

This. Also, if my navy guy is losing, I should be able to help him. Its a team game, not 4 1v1's!

I think the game you want to play is Starcraft 2.
