Where can i find the permission?

Postby Tomahawkthedragon » 11 Jun 2013, 00:05

Since THQ bankcrupt, who is the owner of Supremer commander? I'm asking this question because i want to make youtube videos about my games, and if i can monetise it, it's always a good thing. I tried to go on the Gaz Powered game Forum to have anwsers, but the inscriptions and e-mail verification seems buged. And i can't know who got the right over Supcom. Apparently it's Ubisoft who bought THQ, but Gaz powered game has been bought by Wargaming.

So, where can i find permission for this?

Gyle is doing FA casts and he is working for/with machinima so I don't think there is any problem.

Game publishers/developers rarely specifically give out the permission to use their games in videos, don't think you've any chances of finding a permission of any sort. All the big youtubers are doing it without any permissions as well even though they are making quite a bit of money out of it.

The ownership most likely splitted between:
SquarEnix (IP, PR for SupCom2)
GPG/Wargaming (engine)
Nordicgames (PR SupCom 1, Forged Alliance)

while there should be no problems as there are already 2 Channels (as far as i know) that didnt have problems with this, you could sent a message to gyle (felixlighta) on yt and ask him if there is anything you should know but i think he's still on vacation atm

If you have added sufficient relevant commentary then it falls under fair use. Helps if you are partnered under a Youtube network but isn't necessary.

Unless your commentary and video quality are high then you'll probably find people won't react well to putting ads on the videos.

joining a network is the only sure fire way to be certain that your vids wont tread on any toes with regards to copyright. Once you are part of a network youtube will no longer bother you with such things.

As long as you're using it for review or critique, it comes under "Fair Use", so there shouldn't be anything they can do about it.
