Ragequit frequency.

Postby b583 » 12 May 2013, 12:18

At first, because it is my first post on the FaForever Forums, I would like to thank all amazing guys who made the Forged Alliance multiplayer experience possible again. Great work, keep it up! ;)

I started playing 1 vs. 1 matches (as cybran of course, liberate!) and noticed one thing. A lot of players ragequit by killing their game, when their ACU hp are on dangerously low level or their economy is massacred. Most of them have pretty high skill level. (~800 when mine ladder skill is like 50-200) That makes me wonder: Is it common amongst the players to quit during the battle (sometimes cry about smurf noobs, then quit ) or it is just coincidence that I meet almost only players who don't have honor and don't fight to the end?

There is no 'Honour' in fighting until the end. If you are capable of doing the maths and working out that there is a 0% chance of winning, you may as well quit and get to the next game faster if rating is what matters to you. I don't believe quitting messes up the ladder.

There is no shame quitting a game when it's lost.

On the contrary, dragging the game while you have little chances of winning is not very nice in my book :)

I agree with you, partly. It's true that there are some battles you just can't win, but most guys still had a chance to turn the tables and win. They prefer to insult their opponent and then Alt+F4 their game. It's more about culture than rating/winning/losing.

If I am in a game that's lost, and there is no chance of winning, then I will quit (but only if it's just me left, if allies are still alive I will fight)
The reason being I have limited time to play FA, I don't want to waste it on a hopeless few minutes.

a quit does not need to be a rahequit
you can write gg wp and then go.
if you dont insult i wouldnt even mind someone quitting if he has good chances.

I ragequit (and for ragequit I mean closing the game without GG'ing) 90% of my lost games cause I'm usually angry about how bad I played. No matter the opponent's skill or the points lost.

My stupid opinion here:

Quiting when a match is doomed is alright, throw out the GG like a good sport, maybe crack a joke, or give an advice, or ask for one if you are a noob like me and then Ctrl-K your commander.

Ragequitting is not saying GG and Alt-F4'ing your game. Not a very social thing to do, playing online is surely about being competitive (A.K.A. Taking care of your rating) but should we not try and be friends if we are gonna spend hours playing together?

Of course no one has to agree with me, just saying.

tbh, I don't often quit a game. the opponent has "earned the right" to watch my ACU explode ;)

in fact, I remember one game I lost with very little effort from the opponent. i had only my ACU remaining and was dodging nothing but bombers for over 8mins :P
luckily, my opponent saw the funny side of it too :)

and yeah, always be nice with a "GG"

I find that insulting when a game is stating me the obvious ("press X to open the door" the 20th time I see a door).
hallelujah, amen.
