Hello everyone, I've created this topic to discuss splitting attack orders with Shift+G.
It's a feature a lot of you may not know since it is only available in the mod Black Ops.
This is how it works:
After you selected a few of your units and gave them several attack orders with Shift, you can press G while keeping Shift pressed to automatically split the attack orders evenly among the units which you have given the attack orders.
I've created some screenshots to visualize this situation.
In the first screenshot, you see that I have given 10 of my tanks 10 attack orders with Shift.
In this second screenshot I have pressed G while keeping Shift pressed.
As you can see, the attack orders have been split up. What happened was that each of my 10 tanks has gotten one of the 10 attack orders.
This means that rather than attacking each of the 10 mantis together in succession, each of the 10 tanks will attack one of the mantis simultaneously.
While it doesn't seem useful in this particular situation, it can be very useful for bombing runs, artillery strikes and TMLs.
Being able to quickly split up several targets between bombers would save quite a bit of micro management and makes proper carpet bombing possible.
Since it would be very difficult to make bombers/artillery/TMLs attack several targets exactly at the same time without this feature, I'm proposing to implement this feature into the normal game.
Of course this up to debate, especially since it would increase the effectiveness of bombers, artillery and TMLs, although it ultimately only offers something that can be achieved through a lot of micro management as well.
Thoughts?
