Using Featured Mods Offline

Guys, I'd like to work my way into the Engineer redesign mod in offline mode, see what it has to offer. I know how to launch 3625 in offline mode, and I have hosted the modded game while online. I have the engyredesign.erd file. I am aware I can do this by creating a modified shortcut, but that means I can't switch on and off in the mod manager.

I have renamed it to .zip, extracted it, and made it visible to the manager by creating a mod_info.lua for it, but it just glitches out on launch.

How do I take this mod, and make it so I can go ingame and enable/disable it in the Mod Manager?
