Idea for carriers

Just throwing this out there as an idea:

Carriers can be ordered to attack targets up to 200 units away. When this is ordered, it will spawn a squad of appropriate air units (ASF for air, torp bombers for underwater targets, gunships for everything else). The spawned air units will have a special shield that makes then *invincible, with 1 caveat: The carrier will take damage when the air units are hit, equal to how much damage they take. When the carrier dies, they die.

Do you guys like this idea?

Would you vote for it in the next faf patch?

(FYI, If I get more "no" than "yes" responses, I'm not going to bother wasting time to code this.)

invisible or invincible?

i dont like it, but i do like the protoss carrier thing.

ahm... a bit bad if one plane get's overkilled by 200 asf?

While I like the idea of a carrier using air units like this, I don't see why the carrier should take damage.
Have it like this: it spawns groups of units to attack; gunships/torpers or bombers. Have a toggle option, so they spawn when its on. The spawn could cost an amount of mass/energy.
Protoss carrier is a good analogy; another one I can think of is RA2/RA3 Allied Aircraft carrier (look it up, you'll understand)

Sry but spawning units randomly seems a little far-fetched, also the invisible shield/damage at a distance doesn't seem to be in line with the rest of the game generally so I'm afraid I'm not on-board with this one.

Although I like the idea of an auto spawn options having invincible air planes magically transferring damage is exactly why I play Supcom rather than Startcraft...

I'd rather see carriers fullfill their carrying role more by more natural means like limited fuel and/or limited aircraft ammunition.

I agree, but this would be about changing air units, not aircraft carriers. IMO limited fuel or even ammunition is the best way of fixing the air balance in FA. Maybe this could be added to test mod for a while...

ITs a good idea but spawming in the middle of nowhere no it should be set to if it see a target and its got the unit to kill them it should auto deploy the needed units to kill them and if there's a group of them it could seek assistance of the other carriers to do the same.

The best change for aircraft carriers is still to make them able to construct planes as they move and do other tasks, in the same way as a strategic missile sub or command unit with tac missile.

This idea seems entirely bizzare. How would normal aircraft fit in with this scheme? Why would normal air factories not work the same way? Why would the planes be invisible? If they are invisible, how would one be able to hit them to begin with? Why is the range so small?
