T4 Seraphim bomber

Postby Gozert » 05 Apr 2013, 12:54

Hey,

This is the gyle easter special cast. (Loved it btw) But i noticed something.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXqlVwjMgyw At 1 hour 8 minutes and 50 seconds, Lu_Xun bombs chosen's base to complete pieces. But at the seconds pass of the three t4 bombers I noticed something. Only 2 out of 3 bombers manage to get bomb Chosen in the second pass. I don't see any reason why it doesn't manage to.

I, myself, had this problem a few times whilst playing with this bomber. In 50% of the passes i get, I manage to bomb my target. I don't get why it doesn't bomb.

So my question is: Is the experimental seraphim bomber bugged or am I just not good enough to manage it with great succes?

With great love :P,

The reload time is quite big.

But as you can see in the video, the other 2 did bomb at that moment, so there is no reason for the other one to not bomb at the exact same moment in the second pass.

In other words, the others did reload and the other one didn't? Doesn't seem really logical to me.

the t4 bomber really does fail very often. a friend of me should still have a replay of a fun match where he only gets like 3 bombs off after 15 passes

You should never focus on a target but use ground fire!

But that stilld oesn't take that 'bug' away. But I'll remember that, when I use that t4 bomber again.

The t4 bomber is probably the most amazing air unit in the game in the hands of a capable player and the absolute worst investment you could make if you can't use it correctly. With good micro you can take out 200+ engies at a time, t3 pgens and mass fabricating grids are a one hit kill, etc etc.

Things to remember -> As ZeP said, the reload time is freaking huge. 10 seconds if I am not mistaken. So any pass made during the reload time will fail. The other thing that hinders it is that it has to drop the bomb from a fairly good ways away, and it is related to speed... I can't give you exact details as I have a hard time explaining it. What can happen though in some situations is if you are flying and choose a target to one side, the bomber will turn to target and either (1) think it is far enough away to target but is actually not or (2) think it is too far away when it is actually at the correct distance. Then you get locked in this infinite loop of bad passes. I have seriously left a bomber doing this just to see and it made 7 passes and dropped one bomb.

How to fix this -> PRACTICE!!! Go into a sandbox game, build/spawn one, and then just use it until you figure it out.

My tactics -> Full manual control. I put it on ground fire and manually target a spot to kill what I want. I use move orders to move it to the right places and swing wide. Also, I never hit the same spot twice in a row. I keep it flying in either a straight line or a smooth arc and hit targets along the way. Ground target, watch the bomber, and when the bomb leaves the plane just issue a new move order somewhere out in front to keep if flying at full speed. One other thing to remember is that when the bomber is at max speed it throws the bomb from a huge distance. If you full-stall the plane and then reverse right after you drop, you can hit a defended base without ever getting close enough for the AA to engage fully.

That unit is so annoying. I played a ladder game on seraphim glaciers and built one. While it was at my base, I gave it a single attack ground command targeted at the enemy base. It flew all the way over and didn't drop anything on the first pass.

Using ground fire I don't think I ever had any issue except when I chose a target too close after the recharging time got completed.
