I was just listening to it. They really give lots of kudos to the community. In particular, they gasp in disbelief at the stuff that FAF can do that's supposedly impossible. Good job, people.

Yeah, the guy talking about FAF knows what he's talking about. He knows the game well enough, and is well aware of many things happening in the community, so he must be a community member, forum and FAF user. It's a very nice promotion for FAF.

EDIt: And I love the idea of veterancy for mass extractors that they talk about and was introduced in Supcom 2 patch. It would elegantly replace mass storage adjacency. Displaying the adjacency stars to the attacker would let him know which mex is better to take down first.

wow mass storage veterancy would be horriblr in my opinion. it just makes things flat.
you dont need to invest mass energy and buildpower,
just wait...
btw its lol how they are amazed by the replay vault etc. and dont even seem to knoe about the nomads nor galactical war (i kinda rushed through the comm. correct me if they mentioned it)

I like the idea with mass veterancy. Mass extractors are most commonly targeted to cripple your opponent's economy. You should get rewarded for holding mass points.

Well you can upgrade them so you get rewarded but theres a risk you might lose them.
With veterancy theres no risk... you just get more and more eco for no reason.
Thats why supcom FA is not a casual RTS. It would just be flat to get even more ressources without even doing anything.
And to balance the idea, t1 mex cost would propably be increased what would cause map control being less useful.
And way of getting more ressources without or with barely investing ressources promotes campyness in my opinion. just with the t1 massfabs in supcom vanilla.

As a "thank you" for those comments, the "community" should set up some team games for TOM, where his team has a couple top players. If all he has done is play the Ai he actually never played the game, which means a little bit of multiplayer experience might push him over the edge into a full blown addiction. It would be very valuable for the "community" to make TOM part of the "community".
Even though overall good things were said about Supcom FA and FAF, it seemed that the lack of multiplayer experience translated in a few misguided comments about balance and unit counters. Perhaps this was only because TOM knew that the others just wouldn't understand if he tried to explain.

If TOM played some games, those would be great casting opportunities for Gyle.

Are there some good players willing to help out with this?

Personally, I believe it is completely valid to experience a game through single player. Pushing people into the multiplayer just sounds a bit disingenuous to me. Simply, not everyone is competitive, they just like to have a good time. It talks a lot about Supreme Commander that lots of people find it satisfying just playing against the AI, where in something like Starcraft 2 there's no fun about fighting a non-scripted AI. The gameplay itself is satisfying in FA. It is just gorgeous and even playing against the AI you can face something new every now and again. Testing unit compositions, appreciating the simulation. It feels almost like a 4X game in this regard, the gameplay is its own reward, not being competitive.
