FAF voice feature

Postby Rienzilla » 03 Mar 2013, 01:58

CURRENT VERSION: http://sinas.rename-it.nl/~rien/faforev ... .9-163.zip
CHANGELOG: https://bitbucket.org/rbroekstra/modula ... ommits/all

This thread contains info on the test version of the FAF voice feature! The feature is in a working state, but needs some real life testing. Please try it out and send any bug reports, feedback and whatsoever to me in pm or in this thread

WHAT DOES IT DO
It will make sure you are automatically put into a voice chat channel with your teammates (or fellow observers), as soon as you launch a game. The plugin will launch mumble, connect it to a temporary mumble server, and make sure you are moved in and out of the correct channels when you play games.

HOW DO I USE IT

1. Download and unpack the test build of FAF in a SEPARATE FOLDER (i.e. DO NOT overwrite your current FAF install). Latest version is http://sinas.rename-it.nl/~rien/faforev ... .9-163.zip. Run it by running faforever.exe from the freshly extracted folder. (Disclaimer: while I expect the changes to be harmless, you should use this at your own risk. It may kill your dog and insult your grandmother)

2. Install Mumble version 1.2.3 from http://mumble.sourceforge.net/

3. Configure mumble to use Position Audio link. In Mumble, go to Configure -> Settings. Check the Advanced checkbox. Select the Plugins pane. Make sure "Link to Game and Transmit Position" is checked, and the "Link v.1.2.0" plugin is enabled.

4. Enable the Mumble Connector in Faf. In FAF, go to Options -> Settings -> Voice. Check "Enable Mumble Connector", and click finish

5. Restart FAF

KNOWN BUGS
- None at present. I welcome bug reports!

Cheers,

You can also disable the overlay, which I do, I don't like the clutter.

Hey, Just tagging this on here.

Is it possible to have a few spare rooms in the mumble server? Currently its just a few different languages and i cant seem to find a way - like there was with the team speak - to create a temporary room.
I realise if we set up the game/team room set up thingy it'll move us. But generally before a game there's a chatter with mates about what map people want to play and even talk whilst playing against each other.

Banksy.

Register with the server (nothing to do really, just click "register me") and you can create temporary channels.
