Postby A_Naked_Girl » 08 Feb 2013, 21:26

What do u do on seton's rock spot to keep the beach navy from rushing u early?

I can win a long term navy match but the last 3 games i lost navy by min 10 bec beach rushed at min 6-7 with frigates and I didn't have much yet

have tried making t1 torps near beach spot, have tried t2 hover tank spam (seraphin)

-thanks

not particular setons, but normally a few torpedo defences can take care of T1 navy (as long as it is not seraphim or aeon)

as sheppard already has said, scouting is the most important thing. there are so many ways you can counter that. torplaunchers are always a good way. upgrade your airfac instead of your acu to t2 so you can build t2 air, like gunships. if you are unable to get navy started early just drop engies to the water with the transporter you should still have from taking your island. you also could drop some OP sera arty to his navy factory before he even starts frigs, or bomb the engies on the factory with t1 bombers.

an early way to get back into the water is just to walk with the acu to the cliff and build some torplauchers, these could protect your new navy factories..

my tip for you, just watch some replays of pro seton players ( >1800) and try to understand their builds so that you can copy some parts to improve your own build.

Why does no one build navy from the cliff at rock spot , you can cover it with shields, AA , t2 pds , arty and even assist from the cliff with the first 5-6 engies. It's ten times easier to protect compared to the beach, it's closer to mid/enemy beach and all defences there also defend main base. You can even use hives/engineering stations from the cliff

better build navy in the bay as well as the small beach, just because it decreases the effectiveness of nukes.

Well I'm fairly low level, but what works for me, is if I know I'm losing early navy but have the eco advantage/island, I go t2 air, and torps on my ACU (I play cybran), while trying to restart naval production wherever I can, eg, island, bay.... You would be suprised how little people scout and do not realise that you have naval production in more than one place
BC_Blackheart: i just copy his shit and do it 5% better leads to easy win usually xD

I use Dim's build for rock and have engies at the island by 3:40-50, and i try to copy voodoo and have engies secretly make t1 torps near beach early but good players scout n bomb them, and of course i make a few land factories and annoy beach with t1 spam near his 3 mex's in the corner spot whenever possible.

the cliff navy rather then the small beach is a good idea i never tried it. Have seen others do it...
I usually play seraphin rock so the shields around navy facts is actually a good idea.

for some reason im not good with t1 bombers maybe i should make more

the reason why most players build their navy on the small beach is because it is easier and safer to get the buildpower to your navy factories.
sure u can build transports and use them to get engeneers to the cliff navy, but if u lose air early and your transports get shot down or just cant fly there while your engeneers at the navy got bombed already u fall behind with buildpower. this can pretty mutch make you lose the first navy engagement.
but of course it is an option to build a few t1 navyyards at the cliff to have some early boats against a rush, i would just not recommend to have the main t2 navy yard at the cliff for the reasons mentioned above. if dim does it he has a plan and knows what he does but for a average player its safer to chose the beach option.

^^

Well can you can also build engie from navy itself, it's better to build extra navy factories that can later pump out more ships than build rax on the beach that do nothing aside from building engies.

I can't see any reason why beach is easier, you can do everything the same at the cliff and it's much better to defend. It's also much faster to replace or build cause ACU and 4-5 engies can assist build factories from the cliff or repair factories/torpedos.

How is it safer?? you can't do this at the beach.

@rocksteady: now tell me how you could get there 300 engies without trouble. its just easier to get buildpower to the beach. when i said start navy from the cliff i meant factory in water and engies still on land...
