What is the difference between SupCom original and Forged A?

I played SupCom original back on GPGNet in 2007 and I know that the GUI takes up a lot of the screen but apart from that what are the main differences between the games? I noticed Zock talking about different "styles" of gameplay between original and Forged Alliance so I would like to know what they are XD thank you. I know obviously FA had a lot of cool new units and structures added but what I want to know is what is referred to as "style"?

probably esspecially that map controll is more important due the more or less useless FA massfabrikators
also experimentals are more T6 in vanilla and air is kinda different

I've always thought of it as SupCom was the beta for Forged Alliance. It was really unbalanced and there was only one viable strategy for 1v1's.

so? i surely was a noob player at this time but i couldnt see any hard op things (again i did not really play it since years)

Mantis were op way way way back at the start when they had really high dps.

As I remember it the only viable strategy was t2 land rush followed by hoplites or mongoose. That was every ranked game you saw. When FA came out there where suddenly so many different ways you could win.

That was in the end phase of Vanilla after some broken patches. You shouldn't apply that to the whole period Vanilla was played. Some things that were done on Vanilla (i.e. t3 harb rush on finns) would have a very hard time today.

If you want to see the difference, you can just play the vanilla mod. (i hope its correct ported) ;) Games on bigger maps took often longer with big massive bases full of massfabs and other structures, completly shielded and t3 arty shooting each other and SCU groups as mobile economy scource i.e.

The much more "epic" experimentals were already mentioned.

Iirc, t1 arty couldn't outrange t1 pd and many many other minor things.

Yeah t1 arty couldn't outrange pd and wasn't really useful for anything.

Comms used to be able to overcharge for like 1000 damage I think. Not many people took advantage of that for some reason.

Mercies used to be very op when they were added, 2400 damage I think? Also had really large fuel!

Eco and turtling used to be very effective, particularly if your opponent didn't know how to effectively counter.

the aeon gun upgrade was more like rapid fire than double rate firing
