Hi guys,
so I'm reviving this thread, because I think map vetos deserve to be discussed again.
I came to know and love them from bliz strategy games and they all had a MUCH SMALLER map pool than ours. This map pool is humongous already, a few vetos wouldn't hurt.
This allows you to select a few maps that you do NOT want to play on for 1v1.
Some factions don't want to play certain maps, I'm sure. It's also hard for newer players to play certain maps or to learn all maps at once (though this won't help learning much, you need to go through all of them anyway.)
Especially with a gigantic map pool like ours, this would be a cool implementation that doesn't limit the game at all.
It could be two to three vetos in my opinion, depending on what you think is too restricting/imbalanced.
There's a lot of map of the different types (sea/land/air heavy), so it wouldn't be possible to vote out all maps of a certain type anyway, as long as you don't allow more than three vetos.
About Implementation:
It's not too hard, just include a window with checkboxes for the active maps.
When two players are matched against each other, remove the vetoed map from the random pool and random after that.
