Invincible Czar Bug

Really irritated with this.

I send ~200 ASF's at a Czar. FV__Nick set his Czar to ground fire. The ASF's flew right through the beam and were incinerated in 3 seconds flat. The Czar took zero or close to zero damage.

That cost us air and later cost us the game. He did the same 'aeon trick' as he called it multiple times in the same game to destroy all our air.

replay dsync's for me but withour seeing it:

if ASF fly through the CZAR beam the are hit and killed, i dunno why CZAR took not much dmg but im 90% sure it was not a bug

The Czar beam is a ground attack weapon. Clearly FV__Nick used it as a AA weapon. If you select all your ASF's and click to attack a Czar which has been set to ground fire, the ASFs will fly through the beam and die without causing much damage.

That is pretty much invincibility mode + massively overpowered anti-air capability. This is not a feature, it's a bug.

I saw the whole thing and it does seem like a bug. This strategy makes the Czar nearly invincible except to t3 AA. If that's the case than every ground unit would fall victim to Czar ambushes. Definitely should be fixed.

if you fly through a big fat beam you die, so what?

Then counter the CZAR with t3 arty, that can use ground fire to do "massively overpowered anti-air capability"

The game is designed to simulate, that includes all units.

The problem is isn't that all projectiles are being simulated. The problem is the fact that aircraft magically phase through the center of the Csar for gameplay purposes, which can be leveraged to cause an unintended and detrimental* result.

No, it's not an exploit, but I can't see how this is good for gameplay. The question becomes: is there an easy, practical way to remove this? I'd imagine making the Czar "fly" slightly lower than all other aircraft would do the trick.




*technically, this is subjective; however, who has ever argued "hey, why can't the Czar just shoot its death ray as all the fighters phase through it?"

Finally the czar is useful you say?
Whats that nerf it you say?
maybe you should have killed the thing when it was on the ground or not flown through the beam, it cant move while being told to fire ground so just go do something else. Doesn't need fixing and thanks to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect you have only made this more common.
If anything asf need better ai.

I can think of "solutions" to this but I don't think they'll improve gameplay.
