In about 30 days, the next ladder season will start.
As planned, it will be also the time for a new patch released. I've decided some time ago to stop managing that myself.
Sadly, it seems that the community has some difficulties to manage it on their own (the last attempt was abandoned after 5 days of havoc).
So here is how it will be done, and this is not negotiable if you want some change for the new season :
Application
- You need a rating about 1700 to participate.
If that rating is your 1v1 rating, you qualify immediately. If it's your global rating, you have to apply first here, and you will be put to a public vote for qualify. Then only you can go to the next step.
If your rating is under that, you can apply too, you will be submitted to a vote, but if you don't succeed, you
won't have the right to try to qualify for any other season.
Pip has proven his efficiency at helping with balance in the previous processes and so qualify without any vote (if he wants to).
What you will have to do.
- Once you are qualified, you can post ONE balance idea AND one custom map for the ladder pool.
You have to do both.
You have only one single change allowed, but that change can eventually apply to several units.
The change has to, preferably, affect "useless" or under-used units, or solve a balance problem that you find very annoying.
Ideas like "Change the whole adjacency system" or "make all units friendly-fire" will be dismissed.
Once your idea and map is submitted, the map will be added to the custom map poll (starting the 10th December, ending the 21), and your idea will be submitted to a vote too.
How it will be decided.
Your balance idea must be above 60% positive vote to be accepted.
The amount of votes doesn't really matter : If people don't care it's fine with me, and if they hate or love your idea, it's up to them to advert it.
The 10th, the map poll will be released, and a balance mod with all the "approved" ideas will be released.
If there is no objection from testing it (but I don't really care if it's actually tested), this will be the next patch the 21.
How to behave during the process.
- If you don't respect the rules (ie. posting an idea without a map, or an idea without the vote approval if you need to), you will be kicked out immediately, and you won't be able to apply in the future.
- You can discuss an idea ONCE IT'S SUBMITTED TO VOTE. Not before, not in this thread. If don't respect that, you will be kicked out.
- And if you really want to discuss an idea, you will have to provide some facts. If the owner of the idea think you are trolling, he can ask a moderator to judge the situation to kick that person out.
Because it's really simple : If you don't like an idea, vote NO, and try to make other people aware of the vote. No need to discuss it for days.
- If the owner of an idea want to tweak some numbers after the poll is done, he has the right to. A new vote will be submitted. The poll with the highest score will be taken, even it's not the latest.
If you think there is some gray area in these rules, please say so here, and I will try to clarify or make extra rules.
What you can do now.
If you want to apply, post "I want to apply" and your global / 1vs1 rating.
If you are already qualified because of your rank, you can post directly your idea and your map.
