FAF should take some inspiration from TF2's matchmaking queue, they have this cool button thing you can press over and over again, sometimes it does a cool spin! Great for passing the time.

It's fun. It's nice to be reminded, "hey, we're just having fun here" before you get thrown into a ladder match.

I'll bet there's a way to mod the client to remove the animation.

I think the best solution in cases like this is giving people the option to disable it. Also, the timer should count up, not down, sometimes I'll be waiting for a match for 15 minutes and it will cycle 5 times. It would be nice to see exactly how long I've been waiting.
