FA is so much better on smaller maps

Postby CPTANT » 05 Jul 2020, 14:52

Really the game shines so much more on smaller maps. Raids and drops are so much more powerful. T1 and T2 are actually used for a significant part of the fight and not everything comes down to massive T3 air spam. Big maps are just a stall fest until someone can build a game ender.

Seton's is about the largest map that is enjoyable and it gets away with it because although the map is 20X20 the naval and front spots are actually way closer together.

depends I think spamming proxies all over the map is a viable strategy on large maps. But that requires quite a high apm.

I tend to agree. I enjoy large 6v6 games on occasion, but i find that a good 2v2 is perfection

On maps of 10x10

The contributing factors are certainly complicated - map layout, extractor density (which has a great deal to do with the tech rate). There are good and bad at all sizes of maps.

10x10 imho is the go to size ... 20x20 should be mostly islandmaps (not entirely sure about pondmaps) were navy can have something to do aswell ... othewise anything around 20x20 and above realy is only good for teamgames otherwise it boils down to aircombat and slugfests that become a 1 hour+ snorefest ..
5x5 is too small/close .. sure if you want primarily a t1 metal exploding avalanchegrind it´s fun every once in a while but i think 10x10 maps may make the most use of Supcom´s factiontoolkits ..
