FAF updates now take 30+ minutes to download...

Used to be updates were fast, but now if you live in North America, the updates can take a half an hour or more. Accidentally watch an old replay? A HOUR because you download old update then new update to go back.

What's going on?

It's a shame the game can't hold more than 1 version at a time. For example, if it kept the current version plus the two most recent versions, it would be easy to watch recent replays.

Is there a way to manually download these precompiled updates? The individual .lua files? I go to github and I can only get the source code, but it downloads 1000x faster than through the client.

Yeah, I like retro nostalgia but I prefer V90 to refer to bike engines, not download speeds.

Where did you download it from? The releases page? That's related to github then.

no within the client. the FA patch. I have the same issue. it's doable but godawful slow.

Just to make this clear:
- New client releases are downloaded from Github. How fast they are depends on the mood of Github, which changes a lot.
- Game files, mods, maps, replays are downloaded from an entirely separate place, which is the FAF server.

so the FAF server is the issue. we're having issues getting the FA patch.

Yes, FAF updates--patches. Not client updates.

Using the legacy python client.

Downlords seems fine.

no same issue with downlord. maybe it isn't as slow but slower than what I'm used to.
