How to play 1V1?

I'm always beaten by all kinds of methods (I think many), but I can't get my early layout and land by watching videos and playing again. I want to know your single-minded ideas and tactics, as well as your skills. It made me feel very difficult for 1V1.

To answer your question seriously, playing against the top-rated players over and over again on the same maps seems like a good way to learn how to 1v1 so I don't want to discourage you from doing that. You can also ask them to explain why they are beating you because you might have a different idea about it than they do.

Not sure why you're getting frustrated about losing to the very best players. If you want opponents closer to your skill level, you can look for that in custom games or you can get on the ladder itself. One nice thing about the ladder is that you can see whether your rating is going up. So even if you keep losing to Turin in 1v1s, if your ladder rating goes from 900 to 1300, you will know that you are making progress.

I don't have vpn. I have a lot of high latency on the ladder. If there is a problem, the host can quit quickly.And try to find players with low latency.

Yes, lagging the game so bad that the other player has to quit and give you a win is a solid strategy for FAF ladder.

faf's connectivity with china was always really bad but maybe we can try and do something. there exists a chinese-run faf btw. not as many features or same balance as here though.

Play simple. Remember not to stall on energy or mass. In the beginning avoid buidling your energy extractors one close to the other. Build one energy storage. Build simple land units and some air. Scout always. Learn to use basic hotkeys so you can control your units fast , like ctrl+a, ctrl+l , , , . (and so on). Practice with your ACU's supercahrge. Practice avoiding sending tanks and artillery all together but keep artillery in the back lines. Practice microing your ACU . Pracitce microing short range and especially long range units. Hope it helps

Just to comment on what Prodromos said:
1. you don't always need early e storage(they cost a lot of mass)
2. adjacency on pgens is valuable so some times building close together is necessary
3. building hotkeys are very valuable as well
