How to Change Target Priority? Re: 3702 patch

Postby OmegaMan » 24 May 2019, 22:57

There is mention in 3702 patch of changeable target prioroties. Other than that I can find no more info. It’s also mentioned in the thread for Strogos Advanved target priority mod. This leads me to believe there is a way in stock faf client to do this. Can anyone clarify and explain it more???

While we talking about targeting what is the spread attack hotkey by default?

Also if planes are set on a patrol loop will they break off to attack enemy planes? I had a cluster of 15 Enemy gunships fly directly through a patrolling loop of 15 t3 air sups and they didn’t even react I had to manually tell them and by that time it was too late.

Finally I have had issues with ground fire, not firing at all , can someone walk
Me through steps to ground fire a unit or artilley?

Ok, there are like 4 completely different parts to this post, let me attempt.

Currently in stock faf client, there is only snipe mode, which is activated by right-clicking the attack order while you have any unit that can shoot selected. Snipe mode will target the ACU over everything, then nuke launchers, then smd, then t3 mex, then t3 power, and idk after that. It is really only used for killing ACUs quickly.

Spread attack used to not be bound by default. Now I think it is either Shift+G or Shift+J by default. I am set to Shift+G. It spreads out attack orders among multiple units so they attack different selected units at once, or if used with move order, gives all selected units a move order to the specified location so they bunch up better, and move independently instead of as a group.

Also if planes are set on a patrol loop will they break off to attack enemy planes? I had a cluster of 15 Enemy gunships fly directly through a patrolling loop of 15 t3 air sups and they didn’t even react I had to manually tell them and by that time it was too late.

Planes will always auto attack the first unit that comes within range on a patrol order. Maybe they were already preoccupied with another enemy unit, or they simply were not in range of the gunships when they passed by. If you have a really big patrol order, planes will not automatically attack any enemy unit that touches that patrol order, only enemy units that come within range of the planes on the order.

Since FAF by default puts units in the attack mode that lets them ground fire, all I can think is you are tring to use units that cannot groundfire such as interceptors, this would require more detail (screenshots, replay links) to figure out. If that is not the issue, then if you are selecting an artillery, all you have to do is select the attack button in the bottom left, and click the ground somewhere, this will initiate the ground attack order, and the selected unit will fire directly at the area specified.
