Am I a fucking retard - trying to play on FAF

I haven't played much FAF in the last year, but I am trying to get back into it. I can launch FAF just fine, and I can watch replays with no problem. But as of today, if I try to join a game, FAF freezes and I cannot join a game or do anything else.

Is there a problem? Am I fucking retarded? How do people play FAF?

I had a similar symptom when trying to play people of different clients (i.e I had the python client and they had java). Should be able to get something out of your error log in the clients folder hopefully.

well we need more info. first off is your FAF account linked to a steam account with FA in it's library? this is now mandatory although the symptoms of this are that you would not be able to log in.

unless... you're on the python client :



and not the Java client :



FAF has dropped the python client and switched to the Java client only. if you go to the donwload page and click download that's what you get. and you should if you haven't already.

if you are on the java client then we need more info, if you run the client from powershell, what are the outputs when you try to run a game?

It's possible you don't have a game.prefs file yet. If you've uninstalled FA and installed it again today/yesterday, then there's no game.prefs. Start FA from steam, or the original .exe to have it launch properly. Then the game.prefs file will be made and you can launch from FAF.
