This happens due to you using IPv6 to connect to the server. There is nothing we can do about it with the current server.

but if you force your computer to use ipv4 only it'll be fixed.

that being said ipv6 is superior and flag doesn't matter that much.

Seems that last time server's GeoIP database was updated is May 2018. Maybe we can poke Louvegarde to drop a new one in, since she's doing stuff with the python server already? Should be a trivial drop-in replacement.

This will not solve IPv6 issues.

I checked the python server code real quick - it seems to me ipv6 should work, we just get it from an asyncio StreamReader and give it to the geoip database API. Is there any github issue or such where it's discussed?

The issue is in faf-stack. Docker-compose does not support full dualstack. Instead it routes it to IPv4 internally (using one internal ip address for all ipv6 traffic). That's why IPv6 users cannot be resolved in GeoDB. This is due to limitations in Docker Swarm (used by docker-compose). Unfortunately Docker Swarm is an unprofitable product for Docker, Inc. so they stopped adding features to it.

Hello,
GeoIP update is on the way, Askaholic is on it, it should never ever need any update once i've merged his code in.
But as you said, this won't solve the IPV6 issue. That issue does not lie in the Python server itself.
