just type in some random character in the appearance tab and you have a black background or just add a black image as your background

hack workarounds shouldn't be considered viable substitutes. I'm not sure why people didn't just make a flat #383737 or so background and make that default when this was discussed multiple months ago. People have been voicing dissent about this all day.

To anyone else, if you're looking for backgrounds try: https://www.pexels.com/search/stars/

A lot of these ideas are me nitpicking but i'll mention them anyway cause they'll improve the client imo.

- i clicked ze ladder button and couldn't find an option to cancel the search
- When you go to your profile you get showed a rating progression chart. First of all it would be nice if you would be able to zoom in on specific parts of that graph. Secondly makign it similar to the faf site rating graph (https://puu.sh/DhMqE/610aa103ea.png) would be nice as well. Thirdly the dates on the bottom axis are useless if you played for more than a year: https://puu.sh/DhMs6/c81af4fbad.png. This looks really bad. Also it would be nice if you can set the amount of displayed games the same way you can set the chat message count: https://puu.sh/DhMxk/434a4416b0.png
- In statistics you see some nice pie charts but you can't see any actual numbers. Not below the charts, not when you hover your cursor over the charts, nothing.
- https://puu.sh/DhMxL/f3c0a72baf.png + https://puu.sh/DhMxR/17354be35f.png. I really feel like there is a chat zoom level missing in between these 2
- It only shows my local replays from ID = 5008476 to ID = 5535798, which were all in 2016, even though i have a couple 1000 more games played after that time on this pc.
- other client gave you an option to cancel while it was loading a game, you can't do that here which is a bit annoying.
- both local & live replays can fit 15+ replays on screen (https://puu.sh/DhMEw/e4ef992b7c.png), while online replays can only show 7 at max for me: https://puu.sh/DhMFk/b253dd8e49.png. It should be a lot more compacted or atleast give you some settings where you can change that.
- Same for maps & mods tabs: https://puu.sh/DhMGf/935f683012.jpg. You should be able to zoom out so you can see a lot more maps/mods at the same time. In the old client you could easily see 24 maps at once and even that could've probably been more compacted.
- In the play tab you can't sort on average player rating in the lobby which was a really sweet feature in the old client.
- If you are in the vault tab and you go to another tab and then return to the vault tab you want to return to the page you were on previously, but it always returns to the map tab which is pretty annoying.
- The search system really needs to be made easier and faster to use. Yes you have a lot more options, but it feels like you need 146 iq just to properly use it.
- https://puu.sh/DhMSQ/6ed93dc46a.png: user groups shouldn't be displayed if there are none online in that group, or atleast you should be given the option to disable it.
- The sword icons next to usernames from the old client were amazing and i really feel like they should be added. Same thing for the map that they're currently playing.
- The green/yellow dots next to your name are displaying (in)activity i suppose? I feel like moving your cursor over the dot should give you a popup with "active" or "inactive" or something. Also maybe adding an option to change your own status would be nice, with the addition of do not disturb as well.
- hovering your cursor over a name/clan/etc in the userlist will give you a popup, but i feel like the popup appears way too slowly to the point that it frustrates me having to wait for it to appear. Also sometimes it feels a bit buggy when nothing will popup at all. Or when, after the first popup, you move your cursor to other names which will instantly make the popup appear which is good, but sometimes it just doesn't do that at all.
- When rightclicking on someone's name you get this popup: https://puu.sh/DhN21/77bdd00e94.png. First of all i'm not sure the kick & ban options should be there? It's nice for the mods, but your average user isn't a mod so it will be useless for them. The most important issue is that the popup window disappears sporadically. Sometimes it disappears within half a second. Sometimes it doesn't disappear for 30 sec. Also you can open an infinite number of them when repeatedly clicking on the same name https://puu.sh/DhN52/b4a4aa3051.png

Great work so far on moving this forward. I am testing this for the first time after I recently noticed that the legacy client will be deprecated soon.

Problems so far:
1) First big problem for me is UPnP. I am getting orange Proxy Connection. I have a working UPnP gateway on the system, and I can watch all open UPnP connections. I have other windows software which is successfully opening ports through UPnP and I can see this on my gateway dashboard.

I would love some help diagnosing this. I am running latest Windows 10 Pro. Steam installed SC:FA, Steam Linked. Latest Downlord client (downloaded today). It is possible the old client was also connecting through proxy.

hey I think you can fix this with port forwarding.

you had the same connectivity on python client, it just wasn't able to tell you :
try this guide from here :
Code: Select all
https://youtu.be/4B6EsXtL8C0?t=1000

That worked, thank you tatsu.

As an aside, I went back to the old client for a while because the 1v1 ranked ladder was rarely picking up games. Fast forward to today and the newer version seems to be working much better.

Thanks.

According to the statistics page in my profile, the section for wins/losses per faction, I've only lost games :o

Nice the rating graph is back. I thought that was banned to prevent obsession with rankings?

I think the chat is as it currently is way less manageable and I really liked the way the chat in python worked. Not sure how others think of it but I'd like the python chat colours to be reintroduced, or atleast to be made one of the chat settings so people can still choose however the chat looks.
Your colour is yellow/orange, mods are white, clanmates are green, friends are blue, friended mods are purple, foes are red and everyone else is grey (irc darker grey, makes it easier to tell apart players and bots/discord users).

you can currently set any color for any user - but it would be nice to be able to color groups (eg all friends in the same color) without having to set it one by one

I have no problems to report so far apart from a minor "<Game Type>" issue on the play tab, which is occurring less and less.

I like the fact that the tabs are now properly highlighted, previously the navigation tended to get you uhming and aahing now and again.

I have had no conn issues at all since the update. My client on Linux has always shown the orange proxy connection indicator, but it's always just worked, even through the hardware proxy in my fibre switch.

Excellent job!

I do have a small wishlist :)

1) I'd like to have the facility to delete selected local replays.
2) It would be nice to be able to resize the game tiles. I think they are a bit too big (try 160x100px ;)
3) Sorting by game age would be nice.

Play tab, Tiles view - is disaster. tiles are too big and repeat the same map image on right edge almost the same size.
Check how tiles worked in legacy client and repeat the same.
I dont like Downlords client. Using it is very painful. it looks very raw and low usability
