Context: Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't really ask; but, I'm in school full time, I have a 4 day old baby, I work 65hrs a week, and I just finished building my house. So I'm just looking to maximize my time and effort.

IMO you might want to choose two to stick to for now.

Something open ended like the Random Nonsense can give you more freedom and possibly material, but the lack of structure can make it harder to start something when there's no groundwork to go on.

I also like the format where you shorten your own gameplay into it's most interesting/funny moments (like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEuuU9vrqWo). I guess it falls under number 2.

I agree with you. So short cast/POV games with edits for higher production quality. With play of the week? I think that one helps community strive for something. But I also want to help people get into this...I'm torn.

To be frank I have zero idea who Play of the Week is meant to appeal to on YouTube. The people that have played SupCom and get bored one day and look up videos of the game are an informed audience and do not really need to be “hooked” into the game by videos like Play of the Week as they already likely had a predisposition to RTS gameplay if they played/heard of FA before.

To me it feels like you’re trying to appeal to the dudes that somehow youtube channel surf their way to a fringe RTS game they never heard of and know nothing about. However the problem with that in my mind is that we don’t have that group of people to “lose” without these videos. Before this attempt to bait people to play FAF through some “epic play montage” can work, you’d need someone on FAF to become a major pro Fortnite streamer so he could explain his sense of 146 IQ strategy came from this decade old RTS.

Skimming through the titles of your plays of the week, it looks like it’s mostly high level players that get into the videos. Now, when you say that you want the community to strive for something, what is that supposed to mean? I don’t really think I’ve heard of any of the top players really talk about the videos. Again it seems like we’re missing a middle step here in community development. Montage videos of Shroud’s epic plays or s1mple really only work because there is a group of players that either are incredibly interested in top players on a personal level or they have a deep interest in improving themselves and so idolize those players.

I’d say you’re better off giving attention to lower level players through your series in order to develop this “middle class” of players that doesn’t exist on FAF.

The thing I like most about your videos are plays of the week. Those types of videos are popular in other games as well.
