Ping to Australia from Europe always is 400 ms or so, just because of distance. That is not a problem, it has to be < 500 ms which is the synch frequency. Quite some players don't understand that.
But on average there are more connection issues with Australian players, probably related to bad internet. Not all Aussies have bad internet though.
A big part of the games played is 8 to 12 player maps. People wait long for a game to fill. With so many players, very often after a minute of playing, the game has to be rehosted because of some connection issue. Then the filling of the lobby takes time again. People get tired of waiting in stead of playing.
I would say that the instability of game connections in general is the biggest reason why hosts do not want to increase the risk of another failed game by including an Aussie player. Unfair to you, absolutely.
