I feel like there should be a comment thread for this, since you guys deserve some response whether that is an outpouring of thanks or comments to the contrary :D

I would like to start by saying thank you! Thanks for all the bug fixes, continuing dev time on Galactic War, the gradually improving vaults etc, and the successful move to the new server! There has been a ton of good work done, and most things done this year were pretty solid.

However.... (duh duh duuuuuuuuh) I take extreme issue with one statement in that update.

Equilibrium was made a featured mod. That led to quite a roar in the community, which eventually wore out.


This is inaccurate. What actually happened, is that we were pissed, but we realized after a while that continuing raising a fuss was not going to change anyone's mind that mattered. I and a LOT of other people are STILL pissed about this, and it broke a lot of trust with the people running the server. At this point, we can't change it, and since the path has been taken that we have multiple rated balance mods now it is kind of a moot point, but....... we can still simmer.

Again, thank you for all the work, there are some truly awesome things going on behind the scenes. I just wanted to make sure that this was out there.

everything can be changed
saying we have multiple rated balance mods is not quite accurate since bhedit games aren't rated due to a bug iirc :)

Im always happy to address any EQ concerns, as long as they are based on evidence.

I dont want to change the subject but do you really understand what it means to make equilibrium a rated game ?
What are the implications and repercussions of this change ? I think it's a matter of understanding than anything else. (btw i dont appreciate EQ a lot though i totally agree with it being rated, and this is even more true with BHmod)

Honestly I also would like to see the list of people who are still pissed after rating BHedit(well kind off :d) and EQ. Even more as you say "WE" as if you were talking for the whole community which fortunately you aren't. As for my stance on the whole thing I myself am 100% behind rating this 2 "mods" as they don't break the game like blackops or some other mods but "only" provide a little bit different balance while making sure that the skill set acquired in the official balance still works thus if you are 1500 you will still perform around that level while making sure that people playing those mods won't stay not only overrated/underrated but also it will show us exactly how popular those balances are, I mean for all the stuff I heard about the 3650 breaking the balance I somehow don't see a lot of people suddenly playing it after it got rated compared to all those cries after the "new" balance went live.

Also I somehow didn't saw that change breaking the game balance as much as you and other were suggesting, honestly it's more balance breaking if me or some other setoner/gapper tries to play some "standard" team game map.

Now I'm not an expert on anything, and I don't speak for everyone, BUT brnks discord is overwhelmingly against EQ being rated from what I've seen, and his discord does have over 170 people probably closer to 200 something. so saying that is a small percentage of your community is nonsense.

Why should I care about people who don't care but just go with the flow on discord? If they cared they would be here.

the community has 10k+ monthy users
calling 200 a small percentage would not be nonsense at all

As newly picked maps and mods councillor I'd like to say that I was also against eq becoming rated (and therefore against BH edit as well) but the points brought up for such mods being rated were good ones and it was decided that they can be rated. It's not hurting the rating system in any way, but quite the opposite.

So I'll respect that dicision, those mods will stay rated and new mods that fall into the same category can become rated in the future as well.
