Question about Staging Facility

Postby PhunnyWolf » 13 Jul 2012, 09:19

Hi all,

yesterday i was done a training game versus ki.
I was build an air-fac and build some interceptors and bombers in loop.
defined a patrolcircle for these t1 units... after a while i set an Staging Facility next to the fab.

Now my Question:
Why do they land on ground without using the staging box? they just sit on ground and waited 20m in front of the facility...

Was i doing something wrong?

You should make your aircrafts patrol next to the air staging facility, and when they need it, they'll automatically replenish their fuel or HP. And for urgent needs, you should order the planes to dock there manually, and shift click a patrol order afterwards to resume their duty.

Aircraft will only land on the stage if they are commanded to via a right-click, the return to nearest stage button on the aircraft is used, or they are patrolling within the operational range of the stage with at least one of <50% health, <1 minute fuel or <10% fuel. These parameters for patrol usage of a stage may not be correct. I'd do some testing to be sure. For the aircraft to land on the ground instead of using the stage or continuing patrol, I can only imagine that none of the 'aircraft use stage' scenarios were met and that they were not patrolling. Most likely you told them to move to that location on the ground instead of patrol.

A thought too, is that if their patrol route took them off-map, would their order not have been cancelled with the new offmap changes? Only applies if you're staging was built near a map edge, but could be a possibility.

Yes, even if the patrol routes are close to the map edge then the pathfinding will take them off and cause them to stop unfortunately.
