Download time

Postby Farmsletje » 24 May 2017, 01:32

It takes an unbearingly long time to download anything. For example: I saw a clan member of mine host a coop game. I wanted to join but it took like 20min to download...

Now the worst part is that you can't do anything while you're downloading. Is it possible to do anything about this? Or will it be to time intensive?

It's your friend's end mate. Most people download the client/game updates in a matter of seconds.

Well if you havent played any coop game since the last udpate, you were missing 1,1GB :D so 20min to get that is not so bad.

Yeah it would be great if you could keep chatting while waiting for updates/downloads.
I know this is possible with downlords client, but since that doesn't have coop, you can't use that to download it.

Usually it isn't a big problem, but it i agree that it would be great if the client could just not get stuck on some update.

But that probably would need some big changes that probably won't happen for a long time.

If there is a chance of downloading that 1.1 GB maybe its good to give people a small warning? That is way easier to implement.

Yeah someone already told me. I did not know that.

I didn't have high hopes for this in the first place. :P I only experience it when i try to play coop which is almost never, but it's still one of those things which would be nice to have.

with a bit of luck this wont be necessary when BiReUs will be operational (whenever that might happen) as the patch size is significantly reduced by it.

When full files are downloaded this wont help though. However, at least in the case of coop, you only need to download it once. maybe it could show a warning when you host/join a coop game for the first time.

No, but instead of being a smartass on the forums how easy something is, I actually implement things myself. :)
