I think it bears expression more often in what can often seem like an atmosphere of endless complaining about bugs and balance. On my part, I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this game a reality. The GPG devs are axiomatically included, but it is the effort of everyone who are striving to keep this game from the bit bucket who deserve our special thanks.
When last did you sit back and just take in everything that has been accomplished?
There is a free server, a dedicated client with a well-resolved tournament and casual play system, a dedicated chat, vaults for replays and mods, two separate ranking ladders, cooperative campaign play (which in itself already justifies the cost of the game by injecting new life into it). Then there is a wiki, unit DB, live web-based stats and ladder tracking, live replays, quick tips, a thriving casting and tutoring community, the list goes on and on.
Though some of it is a bit buggy and clunky, it is all nevertheless very well resolved and I am highly impressed. The fact that it is all done through the passion and commitment of a dedicated player base without any help from the IP owner makes it all the more impressive.
The fact of the matter is that none of this appeared out of thin air - the team have worked hard over the years and there is clearly a long road behind FAF.
May the road ahead be even longer!
Thanks, guys. It is really appreciated even though we probably don't express it enough.
