Narrow map pool

I am not one to complain much but I am finding the narrow map pool quite tedious on the 1v1 ladder. Whatever happened to the perfect solution of letting people choose their maps? Did it just end up with not enough matches for ranked games? That's the only downside I could think of to an otherwise perfect system

The system broke, and then it got removed and then we got this aids :/

I thought it was also prone to complaints from people who said they never had a map they liked. In essence, everyone complained about the map pool when we got to vote for it in the GPG times. Everyone complained when we got to choose because it still never got us the right map.

And everyone complained about the narrow map pool where there is no map they liked (I must say that the current pool is quite crap for my personal taste).

Waiting for the next one to be pushed, because then x6 is out
And waiting for the one after that because Williamson's bridge is still in

I have to say, it seems since I've been playing ladder past month or so (only around 50 games) I seem to get some maps a lot more than others. Eg - it seems every 3rd game is on Crossfire Canal and out of the map pool, there are about half which I have still not played

Also I will say I find it a bit strange that you cannot pick the faction after you know the map choice.....
