It looks like you had a hell of a time. Some of the stuff you talked about in that diary went over my head, but nonetheless thanks for all your hard work! The new site looks GREAT!

This disappoints me tbh, if i was in some position like this and a fight broke out i would start bottling people

Being a keyboard warrior will not help people solve issues, mistakes are made and its not like we can back in time and fix them, move on
trying to "blame" people for things is not needed anywhere, it just makes anger, i think the people learn the lesson of not to do it from having to fix it

So much could be fixed by everyone switching to developing the java client instead and ditching the python client as a community choice

It's really as if as a community we're saddled in a rust bucket of a 40's car with no tetanus vaccination at this point.

everybody's pushed to the edge by this thing.

I've been here since a damn while I remember Zep announcing FAF back when everyone was on GPGnet and noone really saw the point.

I can vouch from my experience that even switching for something broken and unfinished so long as we do it as a community with no looks back it can transform that thing very instantly into a finished fleshed out beauty.

I don't know what to say apart that more and more I'm seeing Downlord be requisitioned in things that aren't his client in order to save FAF. he's become our most dependable asset and to find out that he was treated this way is upsetting.

We gotta really pull together now and stop focusing on our own individualistic desires.

we need to gather all relatively able men and get them on pushing FAF into it's new age once and for all. we can no longer be tied down to our past.

We need to do what the gamers of the GPG era didn't have the strength to do themselves. for them it was GPG capsizing that pushed them as one onto this boat they (we) get no credit for that. let's show the world that we can do this! that we can go on forever!

Downlord, if you had wanted to be "open" you should have posted the complete, unedited version of the chat history. Instead you turned it into a propaganda piece selectively edited to promote your personal opinion.

If someone could post the entire #website chat for the 24 hours or so in question I'd greatly appreciate it.

Until then, I'd like to point out two things:

1. About breaking things: We are supposed to learn from our mistakes, not repeat them. We screwed up when we broke features in the interest of technical progress earlier this year (the infamous new server). I said this in the chat: (Downlord didn't include this bit)

visionik i really do not want to break anything anymore. if we break stuff, we should roll back or fix it. yes, we broke stuff in the first half of the year. i’d rather like to stop doing that.

visionik i assumed that there was a cultural agreement on this point. perhaps my assumption was wrong.

2. I also had a direct-message conversation with Downlord where I explained why I was unhappy. I'd gladly post it if Downlord is ok with that. Among other things, in that conversation I told him that I'm done with FAF.

I will be announcing a plan for the gradual withdraw of my support in January. I "saved" FAF because I enjoyed it. It was fun, and the up front and ongoing cost was worth that fun. FAF is no longer fun for me. I'm paying for a toxic headache - which makes no sense at all.

I will pay for the servers and help the community in any way possible for a few more months to enable a smooth transition. I wish everyone GG's and sincerely hope the best for FAF.

I put together the things that pissed me off:
* People saying they don't blame me for something, next minute they blame me for exactly that
* People saying "I didn't know" when they, in fact, were informed
* People saying "YOU BROKE IT" when I was just the executioner
* People who can't keep a calm tone and be constructive
* People who can't deal with the fact that there is a limited amount of time
* People who can't answer normal and valid questions
* the list goes on

And this diary proofs of all these points. It doesn't leave out important parts. It doesn't pull things out of context. It doesn't contain the unnecessary clutter. And yes, it is a propaganda against all people acting like this. And it's a fact base one. I want the community to see what shit I have to deal with, because if one day I run away, they will understand why. Even more I would like the involved people to realize how they acted, and improve their behavior. But I have little hope for ignorant people.

If anyone of you think that it's not the whole truth, I challenge you to put together your own diary where you prove that >I< was the one talking bullshit, making false claims etc. etc.

Also, if you want to post #website, go ahead. It won't change the picture for anyone who actually ready it (but pretty sure nobody is going to)

I clearly said that I will help, but I don't do all the work someone else could do just do as well (figure out how to do the redirect with nginx and test it), especially not at 2am after I spend 2-3 whole days on FAF. If that's what tipped you off, sorry not sorry.

can i just say that having witnessed the entire exchange and being on ts with uplord for some of it,
he wasnt going insane and flipping his shit like everyone else apparently.

he was just in this state where he wasnt sure how people could be serious like that, and just really tired and wanting to go to sleep.

also i cant recall any of the things he missed being substantial or changing the view of this, his diary is not propaganda as far as i can tell.
to be totally honest he could have worded things differently to defuse the situation better but really when youre taking so much shit it does get you pissed.

i get the feeling that visio had a misunderstanding with uplord tbh, but one thing to remember is that its totally absurd to blame one person in any argument, after all it takes two to have one.
i think everyone was being autistic there, but of them, uplord was the least autistic.

also i dont understand much about code but i did think that he said stuff that was reasonable, but whatever i guess

Finally brought myself to read up that doc and i have to say it looks like Downlord got a lot of undeserved shitting. Dont know who duk3luk3 is but he was definitely being a cunt there

Nice insight on what's going on in devs closet, now i understand why things started to fall apart some time earlier. Seems like they are busy blaming and shitting each other too
