I can explain what data I am showing, but interpretations of said data is an exercise left to the reader. I aim to inform, not to persuade or influence
All of the data is bucketed by week, so the first graph is "total games per week" for each of the conditions.
The second and third graph show proportions of all games and proportions of all games with even teams respectively, with each line representing various ways of cutting the games.
As some context for why I produced these graphs, I was attempting to measure the quality of the data that FAF had on games. The "validity" flag was pointed out to me as indication whether or not the game was ranked, and so I took a special interest in it. Apart from that, all I did was join the game_stats and game_player_stats tables together to reconstruct the teams as FAF understood them for each game.
I don't know the mechanics of how the team is recorded for a player, so these graphs should be seen as a "naive view". If I was to speculate on why there are games with only one team, I would point to games vs AI, coop games, and sandbox games as possible causes. 1v1s on the other hand are recorded (as far as I can tell from the data) as two teams, each with one player.
The key takeaway for me from this analysis is that the validity flag is not consistently applied to all the data in the database, but it's use has changed over time.
If one was to assume that validity => ranked, that would suggest that there were no unranked games between early 2014 and early 2016.
Since I was responding to you tatsu, I thought it would be fitting to include a graph showing our mutual (and otherwise) contacts, as determined by who we play games with:

For each player I determined the top 10 people they played with. The network shown is a contact graph using "Softly", "foe" and "tatsu" as seed nodes, to a depth of 2 (seed nodes red, 1 hop nodes blue, 2 hop nodes green).
In this network, the distance between us is 3 hops.
If anyone else particularly wants to see their contact graph then let me know
