What language is your game in?

Postby speed2 » 09 Oct 2016, 00:28

We'd like to add an option to change the language to the game menu, since some people ask how they can change thier language. For that we need to know what languages are available.

Languages we know about:
  • CZ
  • DE
  • ES
  • FR
  • IT
  • RU
  • US

With that we can also translate things that were added by FAF, that will also require help of someone who speaks that language. German and Russian translations already got some some by Uveso and Exotic_Retard.

Can we also change the icons for the support factories and their descriptions (that are wrong btw). When I started playing in faf, I had to reinstall the game because I had no way to tell apart between HQ factories and slaves beside the fact that one was in Spanish and other one in English. I thought it was a bug until I changed languages, but still took me a while to figure out that slave factories were placed always at the right.

Edit: I can translate whatever you want for the Spanish version.

There is a hungarian translation (with modified TTFs!) for FA from 2008:

http://magyaritasok.hu/magyaritasok/sup ... liance/947

Click "Letöltöm" for download.
(don't install to FA folder, it will overwrite the loc_US.scd file!)

I asked them for permission, FAF can use it if credit is given to the source (Rapid @ Hungarian Language Team)
My FAF projects:
LiveStreamer Launcher, Online Replay Analyzer, Replay Syncer, Custom FAF client

@angus000:
Tooltips from factories should be working:
https://github.com/FAForever/fa/pull/1447

@SirTobi60:
if a language like "EN" doesn't exist, the game will fall back to "US" language.

@PattogoTehen:
Thanks for the offer. Do you know someone who can translate the FAF stuff for the Hungarian language ?

Info:
I am waiting for 4 new Pull requests on github.
After this is done, all text strings inside the game are translateable.

Then we can start with the final translation stuff.

I can provide everyone with "ready-to-translate" textfiles for easy translation.

All you have to do is the translation, and post the text on http://www.pastebin.com.
I am willing to do the rest, like implementing this into the game etc.
