It would depend on a lot of things. How strong is your signal? How close are you to a tower? of what quality is the wifi antennae on your hotspot? does it have ethernet?
I used a t-mobile hotspot for a while about 3 years ago right when they were rolling out 4g coverage, and in my experience if you are practically standing under the cell tower you can play an "acceptable" game in the FPS of your choice, and supcom worked pretty well. It dropped occasionally, maybe 5-6 seconds in 10-15 minute spacing, but for the most part did fine. Supcom does pretty well with high latency connections since it has an internal cycle that accounts for 500 ping.
If I were you, I would go to whatever provider has the best coverage and ask them if they have a test drive program. A lot of them will give you a last generation Iphone or something to test coverage with (I know for a fact tmobile does, verizon "might"). Just make sure that the hotspot is functional on it and take it to your house and try it. If it works, great, and if it doesn't, you just saved your money on buying one.
