Is it Possible to Improve Unit AI?

We've all experienced when you send 50 units around a corner, such as on gap of rohan, and your units get bogged down, bump into each other, then eventually make there way thru 1 by 1 and die because of it, is there anyway faf would be able to improve this? I have no idea how the forged alliance engine works, but I'm assuming that improving this would probably require an entirely new engine. An answer would be appreciated.

Pathfinding is handled by FA engine that we dont have access to

yeah that will never be fixed but you can minimize the problem with micro like giving small groups orders and using split attack well (which does not mean grabbing everything and using one big split attack).

path_ArmyBudget Budget for each army to do pathfinding each tick
path_BackgroundBudget Maximum number of steps to run pathfinder in background
path_BackgroundUpdate Update pathfinding tables in background
path_MaxInstantWorkUnits Budget for instant pathfinds by the AI
path_TimeoutPreview Maximum number of ticks to allow pathfinder preview to take
path_UnreachableTimeoutSearchSteps Maximum number of ticks to allow a single pathfind to take for an unreachable path

Here are the parameters and these are editable and have been edited by FAF before. Changing these will show up as cheating, so cheats must be enabled, or you can change these in a single player game.

The difference is dramatic, when changing these values. path_BackgroundBudget was increased by FAF around 2012. It supposedly improved some pathfinding, but may have also deteriorated other aspects of the game. I don't think proper testing across many players in online scenarios have ever done.
In single player just increasing all the values by a factor of 10 makes a very nice improvement to unit behavior. The answer is not at all obvious for an online situation.
I personally would like to see this FAF change reverted back.
