Erase(backup) the contents of the sounds folder, except for the voice folder(so you can get the "commander under attack" warning)

If your sound drivers are shit, which they most likely are, you will get lag from 1000's of units trying to get in on the action and your registry being probed for nothing 1000 times per second.

Eh... that means you play w/o sound?

Yeah... no thanks

But more recently I am getting "beeps" late game when I try to shift+click a lot. One of my ideas is that because I ripped out the X-Fi soundcard.
