1v1 map request

Postby noobymcnoobcake » 19 May 2012, 15:15

This map is quite nice. With great mountains, nice textures, and the large amount of mass gives you multiple options to start. You may recognise it from the first mission of the UEF campaign. But it has one big problem. Its not balanced. Not as badly balanced as you might think but still not suitable for any high level 1v1. Its in the map vault on FAF and its called "1 UEF". its a 10k map and its 1v1.

So how about doing this?

the H is for hydro. Thought I would add it to increase the strategic value of the bottom right and top left flank.
Here is a contour map if that would help anyone http://imgur.com/YdIsP

You could have the top half instead and make it 2v2, there are many options for editing this map.
The other problem is I don't know how to make it in a map editor and this is why I am posting here. I have read a few guides from http://forums.gaspowered.com/viewtopic.php?t=15928 and there does not seem to be anything about mirroring existing maps. However I have seen it done multiple times with other maps so its probably a 5 min job for someone. Any help or if anyone could do it it would be great! Also do we need map forum? for example there is some complaints about other unbalanced ladder maps.

I don't. Gameplay looks very boring. ACUs in middle, turtle, eco. If you're lucky you get a drop done, thats it.

Played with my friend quite a bit and a few times online. Common tactics included
1) mass T1 back and forth until somebody got round back or got an acu
2) Turtle wars with TML snipes
3) T2 gunships and drops
4 )T1 then fast T2 bots with acu gun used to hold back swarm at the start
So your assumptions are correct but not always boring. But its got to be better than setons for 1v1....

Also another option for the map

Regardless of what the map eventually should look like, I don't have time for this until my summer holiday.

I don't like your second setup. All mexes are close to a start position which would encourage turtling, and no outlying mexes to allow for map control fights.

The mexes can be easily moved in the map editor. This was just a rough draft of how it would look.
