give order - select - give order

Postby SeraphimLeftNut » 03 May 2016, 02:19

As the game progresses it becomes more and more difficult to perform this task. UI Lag.

If someone knows please state what changes have been made to FAF to create this problem.

Please make suggestions about the possible origin of this problem.

Please share your knowledge about the underlying game mechanics about how the game handles unit selection and cursor state.

Granted my ui lag battle is nearly solved with all the various small fixes, but there appears to be an underlying issue.

Something about memory management, something about a table of units not being updated fast enough, and what are the possible culprits for this.

a corollary to this is: give order, deselect too fast, order lost. This happens especially for factory orders

Maybe you just got used to azui to much, as far as I can sence it is not implemented ( on click, instead of on release fix) so whenever you click to fast you may hear sound clue that give you falce feedback cause they happen on click, but order happens on release...
That mostly works for factories or other places where you click icons
I got that too when tryed to make ACU upgraide and move at the same time in new patch, at first I thought that it was fixed, only managed to make it after many tryes, and the reason I think was.that.my click release happened.when.I already moved mouse away from icon

I have seen something somewhere else that suggested that it is to do with transmission of data, one of the threads about UI lag said that if a packet is not sent received and receipt acknowledged within a certain amount of time (i think 500ms) then the order cancels to avoid a desync.

im not really clued up on this but the post did make for an interesting read.

I have only played a few games since the beta went official yesterday, but my goodness: the fps stability and smoothness was definitely noticeable.

Good job to all involved and I'm sorry you are still suffering here, TA.

Nice. I am glad to hear that there was a new patch released. Amazing how I find out about these things in the most backward ways possible.

Will have to try and see how things behave from now on.
